The F-14 Tomcat is a true icon of Cold War aviation. It entered service with the US Navy in 1972 and was not officially retired until 2006. Designed by the Grumman Corporation, it took to the skies for the first time in 1970 and quickly became the backbone of the US fleet's carrier-based air defense!
