The Card Counter is Robert Levon Been’s first time scoring a film. Having created a name for himself in his band Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Been ventures into the world of film for Paul Schrader’s 2021 film The Card Counter.

The film tells the story of William Tell, a gambler and former serviceman who sets out to reform a young man seeking revenge on a mutual enemy from their past.

For Been’s first foray into film, he has effortlessly mastered translating the feelings of melancholy and suspense into music. Filled with haunting drums, slick guitars and a feature from S.G. Goodman this soundtrack is refreshing. If you are a fan of the film or Robert Levon Been’s work, be sure to check this out!
