After a legendary two-decade run with Daptone Records, Staten Island’s The Budos Band launch into a new chapter with Frontier’s Edge, their debut release on Diamond West Records—co-founded by Budos members Thomas Brenneck and Jared Tankel.

This six-track EP is a tight, explosive fusion of Afrobeat rhythms, soul-funk grooves, Ethiopian jazz melodies, and proto-metal ferocity. Formed in 2001, The Budos Band is a powerhouse instrumental collective known for their vintage gear, searing horn sections, and hypnotic, high-energy performances.

Their sound sits somewhere between the dusty cinematic funk of Ennio Morricone, the urgency of Fela Kuti, and the doom-laced swagger of Black Sabbath. Recorded largely live in just two days, Frontier’s Edge oozes spontaneity and cohesion—music that hits hard, moves fast, and refuses to be boxed in.
