Often heralded as the most influential band of all time, The Beatles, composed of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. As pioneers in recording and songwriting, the group revolutionised many aspects of the music industry, often listed as the leaders of their era's youth and sociocultural movements.

Released in 1963, "Please Please Me" is the group's debut studio album, produced by George Martin, who is often referred to as the "fifth Beatle". The album topped Record Retailer's LP chart for a whopping 30 weeks, an unheard of achievement for a pop release at the time. It's been noted as one of the most productive recording sessions of all time, with Martin stating "We've been recording all day but the longer we go on the better they get.", resulting in a highly authentic representation of the band's Cavern Club-era sound. Overall, "Please Please Me" is a dance music album, with almost everything on the album containing a swing and a kick born from the tricky experience of making a small club move. It works much like a DJ mix album, a truncated teaser for their early live shows, and a mere taste of what the band would later release.
