To celebrate the anniversary, Asthmatic Kitty Records presents a special edition featuring seven unreleased demos, updated cover art, a 40-page booklet, and a new essay by Sufjan reflecting on the album’s creation.

Sufjan Stevens, an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, has received Grammy and Academy Award nominations throughout his career. Known for his poetic lyricism, he blends folk, electronica, and symphonic instrumentation, with albums like The Age of Adz and Illinois showcasing his diverse musical range.

Carrie & Lowell explores deeply personal themes, including Stevens’ relationship with his mother and her struggles with mental illness. Stevens is also a skilled multi-instrumentalist, often playing many parts himself on his albums, and has collaborated with various artists in film and ballet.
