Carnage was a serial killer named Cletus Kasady who was given a red symbiote by the entity Dormammu. This symbiote was one of several created from the original Venom symbiote. Unlike Venom, Carnage was a single, cohesive entity with his host, fully identifying as "I" rather than "we". The two became a powerful and chaotic force, working together to drain the life force of others to help Dormammu escape his realm and destroy Earth.
