"The Center Won't Hold" is a bold and impressive departure for Sleater-Kinney, and is likely influenced by the trio's choice of producer this time around, Annie Clark aka St Vincent. The album represents a revolution for Sleater-Kinney, an amazing act of artistic bravery. By far their most stylised, radio-friendly work to date, it’s still a flurry of frenetic chords, caustic drum beats and yelps and hisses from Carrie Brownstein and Tucker. St Vincent gave "The Center Won’t Hold" a very modern filter and sheen, but Sleater-Kinney still set the tone.
