Shabaka - Of The Earth LP Vinyl Record (Pink Coloured Vinyl)
Of The Earth is a deeply personal statement, written, produced, performed, and mixed entirely by Shabaka himself. Built from beats and loops created on portable devices while on the road, the album layers choral flute melodies over electronic rhythms to paint a vivid picture of diasporic progression. Shabaka even raps on the record for the first time, citing André 3000's fearless creative courage as his inspiration to find his voice in a new way.
Marking his first recording after an extended saxophone hiatus, the album also signals a new chapter in his relationship with the flute, the instrument that has reshaped his musical identity over recent years. Shabaka has cited D'Angelo's Brown Sugar as an early inspiration, drawn to the emotional possibilities of the wholly self-produced album, a freedom he fully embraces here.
Shabaka is a British-Barbadian multi-instrumentalist and composer celebrated for his adventurous work across jazz, dance, and experimental music. Best known as a driving force behind Sons of Kemet and The Comet Is Coming, his solo work has expanded his artistic vision into richly textured, deeply introspective
