Penelope Trappes - A Requiem LP Vinyl Record (Indie Exclusive Red Coloured Vinyl)

Brighton-based Australian vocalist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Penelope Trappes returns with her haunting fifth full-length album, A Requiem. Marking her debut on One Little Independent Records, the album is a deeply immersive exploration of grief, power, and transformation, woven through ten ambient, gothic soundscapes.

Seeking solitude for an intense and cathartic creative process, Trappes retreated to Scotland, isolating herself to channel dreams, nightmares, and generational trauma into her music. Her haunting vocal incantations merge with deep, droning cello textures, an instrument she approached instinctively, without formal training:

"I always felt an affinity toward the cello—I embraced it, held it, and became one with it as a way to accompany my voice. The nerve-like strings of the cello became external chords of my vocal folds... I scratched on them, leaned into them, and conjured all of the textures I could muster."

The result is a hypnotic, immersive piece of gothic experimentalism, as meditative as it is macabre.

Popcultcha will only accept returns, process refunds, or exchange goods if we are contacted or notified within 7 days of you receiving the goods at your nominated delivery address. Upon us receiving the notification of damage or a manufacturing issue, we may request photographic evidence of the parcel and/or the particular product that has the issue. We will review this photo and contact you at our earliest convenience to discuss you options in relation to the product issue.
