"The Fruit That Ate Itself" is the third album recorded and released by Modest Mouse. Originally recorded sometime between 1993 and 1995, it was put aside and not released until 1997.
The album is a show of a young Modest Mouse's musical abilities. It gives some of the youth-bound band's most abrasive moments and brilliant poetry. With a leaner and meaner sound than other Modest Mouse releases - the emphasis here is less on noise than groove, and the spare, edgy approach recalls the goofy indie-funk of Dub Narcotic sound system and other like minded Johnson-helmed projects.

Popcultcha will only accept returns, process refunds, or exchange goods if we are contacted or notified within 7 days of you receiving the goods at your nominated delivery address. Upon us receiving the notification of damage or a manufacturing issue, we may request photographic evidence of the parcel and/or the particular product that has the issue. We will review this photo and contact you at our earliest convenience to discuss you options in relation to the product issue.
