Dear Life Records proudly presents the physical reissue of MJ Lenderman's self-titled debut, a record built from warped pedal steel, skuzzed-out guitar, and a voice carrying the high-lonesome warble of a choirboy. The songwriting reflects the keen, wry observations of a true front-stoop philosopher, with each track ringing true regardless of whether it began as a lo-fi home recording or something glossier crafted with friends at Asheville's Drop Of Sun studios.

Originally self-released online in 2019 to quiet but firm acclaim, the album has now been remastered for vinyl by Heather Jones, offering a fascinating glimpse into the formative steps of a style that remains consistent across Lenderman's catalogue. Drawing as much from 90s slowcore as it does the tenor of Magnolia Electric Co. and the wall of sound built by Neil Young and Crazy Horse, these nine songs unfold with warmth, patience, and a quiet urgency that rewards repeated listening.

Mark Jacob Lenderman, known professionally as MJ Lenderman, is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Asheville, North Carolina, celebrated as a leading voice in modern indie rock and alt-country for his fuzzed-out guitar work and darkly humorous lyricism.
