Formed in Örebro, Sweden in 1992, Millencolin quickly built a reputation for their fast-paced melodic punk sound inspired by American hardcore and skate culture. The band, consisting of Nikola Šarčević (vocals, bass), Mathias Färm (guitar), Erik Ohlsson (guitar), and Fredrik Larzon (drums), take their name from a skateboarding trick. Over the years, they have evolved from raw skate punk into one of Europe’s most enduring alternative rock and punk acts, with international acclaim following the release of Pennybridge Pioneers in 2000.

Released in 1997, For Monkeys marked a turning point for Millencolin, balancing high-octane punk energy with more mature and introspective songwriting. Songs like Lozin’ Must and Twenty Two showcase their epic hooks, while deeper cuts such as Boring Planet and Lowlife reflect themes of identity, struggle, and growing up in a changing world. This reissue highlights why For Monkeys remains a cornerstone of the band’s catalogue and a defining record of late-90s punk.
