“In Blood Memory” from the highly respected Melbourne artist Jen Cloher expands the artists palette yet again. At times across the course of she explores the same atmospherics that we heard on her debut, but then elsewhere she seriously gets her country rock on. With deliberately raw production, the album is honest and yet still very listenable. The title is inspired by the great American choreographer Martha Graham.
Long time fans of the first two records should prepare themselves for something different on "In Blood Memory," but they are also advised to listen with an open mind. The new record is still very Jen Cloher, and superb at that. This artist stands head and shoulders above the vast majority of singer/ songwriters in this country, and that continues on her third album.
