Released in 2004, A Crow Left of the Murder... marked a period of transformation for Incubus, following the departure of bassist Dirk Lance and the introduction of Ben Kenney (The Roots, Blackalicious). Despite the lineup change, the band maintained their signature blend of alternative rock, funk, and progressive influences, further expanding their sonic palette.

The album features some of Incubus’ most dynamic songwriting, from the explosive "Megalomaniac" and "Beware! Criminal" to the introspective "Southern Girl" and "Talk Shows on Mute." Elements of jazz and prog rock emerge in tracks like "Pistola" and "Sick Sad Little World," with Mike Einziger’s intricate guitar work adding depth to the record.
