Ice-T - Rhyme Pays LP Vinyl Record (Transparent Yellow Coloured Vinyl)

Rhyme Pays is the debut studio album by American rapper Ice-T, released on July 28, 1987 by Sire Records. The album peaked at number 93 on the US Billboard 200 and number 23 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts, and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The album, especially tracks like "6 'N the Morning", are considered to have defined the gangsta rap genre. The album was also the second hip-hop album to carry an explicit content sticker.

Ice-T's debut album is a good example of what 80s hip hop was. The drum machine beats, the synthesised bass, and lots of shit talking and lyrics about enjoying life. However, what makes Ice-T stand out from other rappers of the 80s is the tracks in which he makes comparisons of street life and by the examples he gives. The best songs on this album are the ones that helped start gangster rap and the ones that glamorise illegal activities (6 N The Morning, Pain, Squeeze The Trigger). These songs showcase the Ice-T we'd know and love in the future.
