Formed in 1983, Guided by Voices are an indie rock group hailing from Dayton, Ohio. Over their career they've released a whopping 30 full-length albums, obtaining a dedicated cult following, known for writing songs with abrupt ends and experimental homemade sound effects.

Half Smiles of the Decomposed is the fifteenth album from the group, released in 2004 as the final album before their reformation in 2010. The album is packed full of sonic delights, with melodies that hint at almost forgotten classics and re-discovered home-taping experiments. In a truly Guided By Voices fashion, the arrangements appear to collapse before resolving, while Robert Pollard's vocals almost dip into prog-rock territory with his abstract lyrics and dynamic tones. A highly classic release from an essential indie rock band, a must have for any Guided By Voices fans!
