Distorted and dynamic, Without A Sound captures Dinosaur Jr. at their most accessible—now remastered and reissued as a deluxe yellow coloured vinyl edition with bonus material and live tracks. Originally released in 1994, Without A Sound marked a pivotal moment for Dinosaur Jr., coming in the wake of personal loss and the departure of founding drummer Murph. With J Mascis taking on the bulk of the instrumentation, the album channels a more introspective energy while still retaining the fuzz-soaked hooks and guitar-driven power the band is known for. Featuring the alt-rock staples “Feel The Pain” and “I Don’t Think So,” this became their highest-charting album in the US, reaching #44 on the Billboard charts.

Formed in 1984 in Amherst, Massachusetts, Dinosaur Jr. helped define the sound of American alternative rock with their roaring guitar tones, slacker vocals, and emotionally raw songwriting. Their influence can be felt across generations—from Sonic Youth to Nirvana to modern shoegaze revivalists.

Without A Sound is a snapshot of the band in transition, but never off course—melodic, melancholic, and endlessly loud. This expanded edition includes B-sides, singles, and live tracks, plus detailed liner notes by Mojo’s Keith Cameron based on exclusive interviews with J Mascis.
