Off the back of their 2018 album "Thank You For Today," Death Cab For Cutie are back with 5 brand new tracks on this 2019 release “The Blue EP.” Offering a doom-and-gloom-heavy rock awakening in this release, singer Ben Gibbard explores the “charred remains” of an accident in the opening track, “To the Ground.”

The EP then swerves into the grim history of the 1999 Bellingham Olympic Pipeline explosion in Seattle, which killed three children, in the strong track “Kids of ’99.” The band continues to ground its latest music in tragic scenes, refusing to answer to an old love in “Man In Blue,” a devastated war zone in “Before the Bombs” and losing a loved one in “Blue Bloods.”

The EP offers a nostalgic throwback to the bands early 2000s height. The sounds are reminiscent of Death Cab For Cutie in their prime, providing what many fans fell in love with.
