Swet Deth marks Eric Bachmann's return to his Crooked Fingers moniker after a 15-year hiatus, and the album's title has an origin as charming as it is darkly poetic. When Bachmann's son came home from school with a sheath of macabre drawings, one bearing the words "DETH, SWET DETH," everything clicked.

Bachmann assembled an extraordinary cast for this record. Sharon Van Etten, The National's Matt Berninger, and Superchunk's Mac McCaughan all appear alongside collaborators Jon Rauhouse, Bachmann's wife Liz Durrett, Skylar Gudasz, and Avery Leigh Draut of Night Palace. The result is a rich, generous record with a groove and freedom that belies its heavier themes.

Hailing from North Carolina, Eric Bachmann is the driving force behind Crooked Fingers, a project rooted in alt-country, indie rock, and baroque folk.
