Car Seat Headrest – Making A Door Less Open LP Vinyl Record
Genre-hopping, mask-wearing, and emotionally raw—Making A Door Less Open is Car Seat Headrest’s most unpredictable and adventurous record to date.
Released in 2020, this album marked the first collection of brand-new material from Car Seat Headrest since 2016’s Teens of Denial. A bold departure from the band’s lo-fi indie roots, Making A Door Less Open was shaped by the influence of Will Toledo’s experimental side project, 1 Trait Danger, which introduced more electronic elements and an emphasis on individual song identity over a unified narrative arc.
The result is a dynamic, multi-faceted album—equal parts synth-driven, emotionally introspective, and unashamedly weird. Recorded over four years with bandmates Andrew Katz, Ethan Ives, and Seth Dalby, Making A Door Less Open captures Toledo at his most creatively restless, blending glitchy textures with stripped-back songwriting and unexpected detours.
