Time-travel through sound with one of indie music’s most enigmatic cult heroes. Before Today marks a turning point in the career of Ariel Pink, the lo-fi pioneer who brought his warped bedroom pop to the big stage with this full-band effort under the Haunted Graffiti moniker.

This 2010 release trades the grainy tape hiss of his earlier work for glossier production — without losing the kaleidoscopic weirdness that made him a legend in underground music circles. Born in Los Angeles, Ariel Pink (aka Ariel Marcus Rosenberg) is a cornerstone of the hypnagogic pop and chillwave scenes. With a musical style that fuses ‘60s sunshine pop, glam rock, new wave and experimental funk, Pink’s sound is nostalgic, unpredictable, and deeply influential.

Before Today is his most accessible and ambitious work, recorded in part at Tito Jackson’s old studio with top-tier producers like Sunny Levine and Rik Pekkonen.  From the infectious groove of “Round and Round” to the bizarre brilliance of “Menopause Man,” this is an art-pop odyssey.

Popcultcha will only accept returns, process refunds, or exchange goods if we are contacted or notified within 7 days of you receiving the goods at your nominated delivery address.
