Angel Olsen taps deeper into her country influences on a warm, self-assured album whose fluid narration unites love and grief, past and present in her most recent project Big Time.

Coming to terms with her queerness and confronting her traumas, Olsen came out to her parents. At the age of 34 and finally able to freely express themselves Olsen’s mother and father shortly passed away. The chance to finally be seen more fully by her parents was stripped away from her grasp and instead replaced with shards of grief.

Once the wounds started to slowly heal, Olsen could finally begin to pick up the guitar and pen and go on to create this gorgeously written and performed album.
