Universal Monsters - Dracula 1:1 Scale Life Size Bust
“They were mythic, they had poetry to them. And you know what else? The women… the women preferred the traditional monsters. The pure horror, it both repels and attracts them, because in their collective unconsciousness they have the agony of childbirth. The blood. The blood is horror. Take my word for it, if you want to make out with a young lady, take her to see Dracula.”
Perhaps the most iconic interpretation of Dracula, Bella Lugosi first played the role in the 1927 Broadway adaption of Bram Stoker’s classic novel, which led to his starring in the 1931 film. His performance in Dracula set in stone the modern characterisation of Dracula, much different from Bram Stroker’s original. Without heavy makeup or special effects, Lugosi embodied the character and terrified generations of audiences. Blood was never seen, nor were any teeth bared, yet Lugosi’s piercing stare left an unshakable image of horror.
This joint venture by Sideshow Collectables and Black Heart Enterprises brings Bella Lugosi to life once more, with this detailed, limited edition 1:1 Classic Dracula life-size bust. Sculpted by Jeff Yagher, consultation was undertaken with the Lugosi family who provided rare insight and reference material. Lugosi’s son has personally authorised the sculptor and paint master in order to ensure the most intimate and accurate recreation of one of Hollywood’s most iconic characters.
