The Strain - The Master Jusef Sardu 16” Statue

The youngest of the seven original vampires known as the Ancients, The Master is responsible for bringing an evil strain of vampirism to New York City in the FX series The Strain.

In 1:5th scale, this 17” statue has been designed based on his appearance inhabiting the body of Jusef Sardu, a Polish nobleman from the 19th century afflicted with gigantism. Jusef Sardu’s intimidating physique has been recreated by Insight Collectables, overseen by creator Guillermo del Toro the artists have utilised references from Del Toro’s personal files as well as the 3D sculpture used to bring The Master to life on television.

This figure includes two interchangeable heads, one showing the master in attack mode with his stinger fully extended and the other showing him in a regular pose.

Imposing evil!
JR - 07/12/17 - 06:25am
This is a brilliant piece, not only does it capture the Masters presence from the first 2 seasons of "The Strain" but it actually does a better job than the show did, creating a more fiendish, imposing and horrific visage of The Master!
My copy has a few really tiny specks of paint chipped off (like i mean the size of maybe 2 x pin heads, revealing white underneath), but it is not enough to warrant any sort of negative feedback and you can't notice it from afar.
It is almost impossible to choose between the 2 heads as both look amazing and both create very different moods, the one with the stinger ready to strike looking directly forward is fierce and aggressive, where as the one with his mouth closed and his head down and to the side, creates an eerie and cunning, dark yet satisfied atmosphere, like Sardu has just finished feeding or devising a diabolical plot to spread the worms!
Your eyes definitely gravitate to this piece and it would make an excellent edition to anyones collection, especially those who collect vampires of the Nosferatu (or in this case Strigoi) variety! Even if you have not seen the show nor follow it, this piece is a must have for vamp fans!
