Released in 2017, 'In Spades' is the eighth studio album by Ohio alternative rock band The Afghan Whigs.
It took the #14 spot on Pitchfork's "20 Best Rock Albums of 2017" Chart and stated, "The Afghan Whigs’ second post-reunion album is a heavy, menacing work of indie rock majesty. The final release to feature late guitarist Dave Rosser, it collects some of their darkest music and Greg Dulli’s most impassioned vocals since the ’90s. “We’re coming alive in the cold,” he repeats in the stunning opening track Birdland. Even with his warning, it’s a thrilling and unsettling thing to hear unfold."
The Afghan Whigs have influenced a number of bands and musicians over the years across many genres, including The National, The Gaslight Anthem, Interpol, My Chemical Romance and Jimmy Eat World.
