Star Wars - Ralph McQuarrie Prototype Boba Fett 19” Statue
Following the success of Star Wars, and how instrumental the designs of Ralph McQuarrie were in visualising the grandiose landscapes and characters of the film, George Lucas recruited McQuarrie once more to do preliminary designs for the film’s sequel, The Empire Strikes Back.
Once of the first new characters to be designed, Boba Fett originally began as a super trooper, with a striking aesthetic inspired primarily by Darth Vader and the stormtroopers. Working closely with Art Director Joe Johnston, McQuarrie assisted in the evolution of the character into the ruthless Mandalorian bounty we know know today.
Sideshow have captured the spirit of these early explorations of the character, with Fett appearing in his original all-white armour, leaping into action over a base inspired by the Slave I. Reviewing a broad spectrum of McQuarrie’s designs, Sideshow’s artists have translated his iconic artwork in a brilliant 19” tall homage to a Star Wars that is both familiar, yet never was.
