Now if you paid over $300 for this figure, I'm sorry because as much as I love the character the figure isn't worth more then that. Lucky for you Popcultra has him for under that so your Golden! At that price Your getting great deal. The packaging is just a black styrofoam box with foam inserts and a silver foil wrap. Is it stunning?? No....if you want stellar packaging look towards the Hot Toys Robocop host of figures which have beautiful two part boxes with amazing art work of the figures inside.....but you aren't reading this for a review on the box you want to know what's inside.
I can honestly say Enterbay went all out on this one and added a ton of extras. Which includes 3 different face plates (2 which look like actor Robert Burke, and 1 that looks like actor Peter Weller....yes it does have a Weller lower jaw despite some people saying it doesn't) multiple hands including one with a data spike, his auto 9 handgun, arm gun with removable clip from Robocop 3, a OCP remote, display base with "Robocop" (not Robocop 3) title plate, a Robert Burke unmasked head (with some of the most amazing paint apps I've ever seen on a mass produced figure, a battle damaged chest plate, and finally the Jet Pack with control arms...which people love to hate. Remember these accessories are all 1/4 scale....with that in mind just know this figure and all his goodies are going to take up a lot of collection real estate. The figure itself is beautifully done. Articulation is limited (I say limited because the Hot Toys figure even though 1/6 scale has a wealth of articulation) the finish and the paint is excellent with zero defects. The figure has electronics or what collectors call gimmicks. That's were the remote comes in....push one button and his leg hosted opens up and makes a mechanical sound, another button closes it. Two other buttons move the head left and right....again making a mechanical sound. This particular gimmick kinda stinks because since the head is controlled by the remote and the gears that turn it....you cannot manually turn the head without using the remote. You can tilt it up and down just not side to side. Lastly the finally button on the remote makes the figure say three phrases from the movie. Personally I think I'd rather not have any of the gimmicks. It's not that they don't function because they all work very well, it's just at this price point I want to be able to pose a figure myself without limitations.
The detailing is nice - and well done. I do have one issue though and that is the forearms to the hands is on a long peg with a rubber sleeve over it which is the length of the glove. Hot Toys did the same thing on their 1/6 scale figure....only difference is Hot Toys did theirs right. For some reason Enterbay didn't allow the hand cups to be small enough so the smallest tap, breeze, or dog fart and his hands will fall off. It sounds like I'm exaggerating, and honestly I wish I was. Is it a deal breaker?? No, because this can be fixed by putting some masking tape around the ball of the joint and creating some friction at the wrist, but again at this price point should we be having to make repairs just to keep the hands on. Especially for those that paid retail which was in the $550 neighborhood. Lastly the other complaint I've heard is the figure is light or feels cheap. I honestly don't this he feels cheap, but if you are comparing his weight to the Hot Toys this one will fall short simply because the Hot Toys version has die-cast metal.
It may seem like I hit on a lot of negatives but I'm just stating facts. Does the figure have a "wow" factor....absolutely. He's huge and it's beautiful. I know people hate the backpack because they hate the movie Robocop 3....I never hated the movie. It wasn't my favorite of the three by any means but it was still a great popcorn movie....so I love the back pack / jet pack and the amount of detail in it. It's truly spectacular. Over all this is a "GET" if you are a fan. If you are wanting something smaller in scale then your better off getting any one of the multiple Robocop releases that Hot Toys put out. All which in my opinion are the finest collectibles ever put out for Robocop....period.
