k.d. lang and the Reclines - Angel with a Lariat LP Vinyl Record (2020 Record Store Day Exclusive Translucent Red Coloured Vinyl)

k.d. lang and the Reclines major label debut from 1987, "Angel with a Lariat" is a country recording, influenced by rock, rockabilly and possibly even new wave. The album was produced by Welsh guitarist, singer and musician Dave Edmunds, and was recorded in London, England in 1986, though k.d. was based in Vancouver Canada at the time.

"Angel with a Lariat" often sounds more like rockabilly or roots rock than classic country and western, with a big, snappy drum sound, plenty of guitars mixed upfront, and lots of slapback of lang's vocals. While the production and arrangements tend not to focus on the subtleties of lang's voice, though they are massive on this record with a set of pipes as big as all outdoors. Fast, fresh, and funny, "Angel with a Lariat” stands as one of k.d. lang’s finest works.
