David Bowie - Pinups LP Vinyl Record (2019 Record Store Day Exclusive Picture Disc Vinyl)
Pinups is the seventh studio album by English musician David Bowie. It was originally released on October 19, 1973. The album peaked at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart, bringing the total number of Bowie albums concurrently on the chart to six. A covers album, it features mid sixties songs originally released by English artists such as Pink Floyd, The Who and The Kinks.
A collection of great classic songs they need no comparison to the originals as Bowie distinctly makes them his own with respectful intention. His desire with releasing this album was to introduce the American people to a collection of British artists he loved and but weren’t getting the credit in the US he believed they deserved at the time. He wrote in the liner notes “These songs are among my favourites from the ’64-’67 period of London.”
This album acts almost as a musical interlude in the artists career as he moved from the glam rock sound of his earlier work into more of a punk and jazz expression.
A must have for any fan of Bowie’s work, this release of Pinups was remastered in 2019 as an exclusive with the album graphics printed onto the vinyl.
