"Unbound" is a groundbreaking album by Bizhiki that fuses the ancient tradition of powwow singing with contemporary musical elements. Opening with a trembling chord that transitions into a warm, traditional voice, the album intertwines powwow vocals with synthesised modulation, hand drumming, and electronic beats.
The project, which began at the Eaux Claires festival in 2015, evolved into a unique musical tapestry that honours ancestral homelands while innovating for future generations. The trio worked steadily over the years, balancing other projects, to create an album that defies conventional genres and offers a fresh, expansive sound.
